| The Ovalia chair was designed by Henrik-Thor Larsen and is a true designer classic. Casus are very proud to announce the revival of this masterpiece and its introduction to the UK market.
The Egg shaped chair was first unveiled to the public at the Copenhagen Furniture Fair in 1968, the response generated immediate success.
World wide demand for the Ovalia was high and production ran for 10 years until 1978. Demand for the Ovalia was still strong, this spawned cheap copies from the USA and China. Online communities exist today simply to verify who has, and how to identify the original chairs.
The Ovalia will be produced again by Henrik-Thor Larsen himself. The new Ovalia, named the series II, will be limited to a world wide distribution of 900 pieces. To prove its authentication each Ovalia has a solid sterling silver commemorative medallion in the roof with the number of the chair and Henrik’s signature.
Apart from a few technical changes throughout production, the chair will look and feel identical to the 1968 original. The inside of the egg has been more ergonomically designed than its predecessor, giving new levels of sitting comfort. The Ovalia is produced and assembled to the highest standards in Sweden and is perfect for any living space or contract environment.
Optional extras include an interior speaker package from luxury speaker manufacturer JBL. The speakers are fully upholstered and integrated into the interior. When you stand outside the Ovalia the sound is not imposing, inside however, you can enjoy a rich quality sound.
The Ovalia can be hung from the roof on chain; this involves the whole chair being strengthened in order to take the increased strain – up to 300 Kilos.
Constructed from glass fibre – reinforced polyester, the series II is painted shiny white with a choice of 20 fabric colours for the interior. The turn foot is available in shiny white or brushed stainless steel.
